Server - quakedev.com:27920 (Aug 31st)
We might be changing servers a lot, so hopefully this post will show the current server (if it's up).
Current address: quakedev.com:27920

Re: Server - quakedev.com:27920 (Aug 31st)
Server should be more stable now, fixed a few key issues.

Set the dm monsters to 10 or so. Easy_inv1 doesn't work anymore, so dm_monsters of 1 is no good.
Re: Server - quakedev.com:27920 (Aug 31st)
dm_monsters was not being set between map votes, actually, fixed.
invasion dm_monsters is set to 5 for now

Re: Server - quakedev.com:27920 (Aug 31st)
Weapons disappear when picked up. Simple change in the dm flags will fix this.
Can you add my invasion map: svrxinv1

Re: Server - quakedev.com:27920 (Aug 31st)
Sure, I'll add that to the maplist when I get back.
It almost sounded like weapons disappearing was a bug, lol.
I think it might be better to have the weapons around, at least they provide ammo when everyone already has their respawn weapon set, and respawns are free. It just seems to be a nuisance to have weapons lying around somewhat pointlessly 90% of the time, the worst thing that could happen is that another player grabs the weapon on purpose to keep others from getting the extra ammo, which would be well, smart..
What do you think?

Re: Server - quakedev.com:27920 (Aug 31st)
Well, the only servers I've ever played in where the weapons disappear are straight vanilla DM servers where that is a main part of the game. I've played so long with non-disappearing weapons that I get annoyed when they go away. I'm sure this would feel weird to many other players too.
Ammo isn't a big deal in vortex, so picking up weapons wouldn't be very beneficial or detrimental(I happen to run over weapons all the time for no reason when moving from one area of the map to another). I vote keep them in.

Re: Server - quakedev.com:27920 (Aug 31st)
Well, hopefully the goal here is to draw more players in general, as well. Would new players be annoyed because a weapon disappears when you pick it up? It would be logical at least (even though that's not the issue here). It's actually counter-intuitive that you may only pick up the weapon once and never get ammo from it afterward when you try to touch it again. Ammo is how you balance weapons like chaingun and bfg, for example, and getting ammo from weapon pickups would kind of help when ammo regen doesn't work while attacking, and it would be of slightly more help to ammo pickup upgrades, etc.
If it's better to keep it the same way it's been for most mods including vortex, then I don't mind doing it, but it just seemed more interesting to have the weapons respawn. Like you said, it's what DM uses, which should be emphasized in vortex.

Re: Server - quakedev.com:27920 (Aug 31st)
You cannot compare DM to vortex. Weapons need to stay like they've always been.
Anyways, the server always crashes when voting a new map in the same mode (at least for PVM). It auto-restarts in q2dm1 right away, but constant crashing is not good.
How to reproduce:
1. Go to server
2. Vote any pvm map
3. play the pvm map for a minute or so
4. vote another pvm map
5. crash
Edit: voting any other map in any mode still causes crash

Like I said, if keeping the weapons there is better then that's fine, just making observations..
I thought I already fixed that, i need to check that out

Fixed, apparently uncommenting some code on the voting file revealed another non-standard C function.. >_>
